• Technical assistance and resources in the development and implementation of a comprehensive tobacco free policy.

• Assistance in developing strategies to communicate the policy to students, staff, parents and visitors.

• “Tobacco Free School” signage to your school district. 

• Funds for your staff to receive professional development opportunities.

• Free smoking cessation classes for all school staff and parent/guardian’s of a student who attends your district.

What are the overall program benefits?

• The tobacco-free school policy program is research based. Current research and best practices are available.

• Schools will have a partner who is knowledgeable in the planning, development, and follow-up in the creation of the policy and a tobacco-free environment.

• There is an opportunity for networking with other districts’ who are also working on developing a tobacco-free school environment.

• The school is taking a proactive role in eliminating tobacco use. The program will help to build a strong school community and strengthen the current work districts are doing with providing a healthy enviornment for our youth.

• Students when involved in the program develop leadership skills and lifelong learning skills for choosing healthy lifestyles.
